Background info for the 101" FC photos

Pics 1 : the civilian registration on the "trials" 101" with the powered-axle trailer dates it as 1971 but it is probably built earlier (early Rover V8).

Pics 2 : the 101" Forward Control was designed in late 1960's. Twenty 101" prototypes were built between 1968 and 1971, and initially they all had 6 cylinder engines. Then a Ford Falcon V8 was tried and then the Rover V8. The "01SP13" unit is probably one of five six cylinder prototypes including 01SP14, 01SP15, 01SP16 and 01SP17. The third prototype 01SP14 is in the Dunsfold Collection. The year when this first batch of 101" prototypes were built is believed to be 1967.

Pics 3 - 4 - 5 - 6 : these unregistered units are most probably part of the 1967-68 batch as they appear to display the characteristics of 01SP13. Info from EMLRA website

Background info for the Lightweight photos

The 88" Lightweight ½ Ton was available to defence customers only from 1968 (apparently about 3000 Series 2A units were made of all variants in total).

Pics 7 - 8 - 9 : the registration is civilian, probably registered by Land Rover in early 1968. Radio is Wireless Set No. 31. "VXC702F" is the first production LHD Lightweight, it was built on 14 December 1967, chassis number is 23900001. Info from EMLRA website
