Role: To provide work stations for up to two trades persons to carry out general maintenance repairs inside or outside the vehicle. The vehicle is also to provide internal storage for tools, test equipment, documents, repair parts and personal equipment.
Description: The Maintenance Vehicle is a six wheeled vehicle designed specifically for military use. The vehicle is based on the Land Rover 110 series commercial, but with and extended chassis and an additional axle. The vehicle is a constant four wheel drive, with selective six wheel drive for negotiating difficult terrain.
Information: Chassis modifications include points for a helicopter sling, shipping tie down and vehicle recovery points.
This vehicle is only complianced for road use with three passengers in the cab. The vehicle has a range of up to 600 km on first class roads. The General Maintenance Vehicle carries out field maintenance and repair of vehicles,
weapons, aircraft, electrical equipment
and welding. It also provides an "Auto Club" roadside repair service
during convoy movements.
The maintenance module is mounted on the tray in the same way that the ambulance body and tray body are mounted. The module utilises 24 volt lighting, 240 volt power provided by an external source, while the remainder of the vehicle operates on 12 volts.
