Nomenclature: Truck, Utility, Lightweight, MC2, Command Post, FFR
Liability Code: 73400
Description: Very similar to the Survey Vehicle this vehicle had a hard top fitted and was fitted for radio.
Number Built: 2
Information: A very rare vehicle with only 2 having been built.
One Engineering Development (OLN-965) vehicle was retained by Land Rover and later bought by a REMLR registrant. The other was an initial production vehicle with ARN 48-005, which is now also owned by a REMLR registrant, Wayne E. No further orders for this type were made, hence their rarity. At the time of auction 48-005 had been reconfigured as a regular FFR with a canopy instead of hard top.
The two Command Post vehicles as well as being Initial Production Vehicles, also carry sequential vin numbers, SALLDHAZ1BF565740 for 48-005 and SALLDHAZ1BF565741 for OLN-965. In essence the Command Post was 95% the same as the survey vehicles, with the added capability to carry radio equipment.
48-005 was completed (rolled off the production line) on the 7th of December, 1986. It was scheduled to be dispatched to the Army on the 23rd of February 1987. However it was actually delivered and accepted at 21 Supply Battalion at Moorebank on the 20th of February. Whilst the fifth vehicle by ARN, it was actually designated I.P.V No.6. It is thought that the vehicle was converted to a regular FFR vehicle some time in late 1991, to early 1992.
Of interest, is that 48-008 (the first true production Perentie 110) through to 48-033 (al GS vehicles) came off the production line with plain olive drab canopies. It was not until 48-034 that the DPP canopies were fitted, although the remainder were retrofitted during their service life. |
