It is interesting to note that whilst the body is olive drab, the chassis appears to be in a gloss black.

The wheel nuts and hubs are also in black.

Image 3-9449
At the front of the tub there are plates that appear to be for mounting the Series 2a FFR radio table, however unlike the Army vehicles, the middle seat in the front remains in place.

The spare wheel bracket and bonnet retaining strap can also be seen clearly.

Image 4-9449
The tailgate scoop is in clear evidence here, but no step cut into it.

The bumperettes also show the early mountings for Tac plate holders that was later moved onto the body due to damage to the unit, as well as personnell.

It's interesting to note the box that the pintle hook is bolted to is painted white, and that the mud flaps are still black and land rover items.

Considering the fleet went to olive drab in the 60's, this vehicle appears to be finished in Deep Bronze Green?

New - "Ambulance 1970 Season Contract No. V409003 (12 Off) Contract No. V409388 (20 Off)"

The sirens must have been fitted later than this as none are visible under the guard on the RHS of the image.

Unfortunately a rather dark photo, but the handrails and rear steps are quite clear. The Army Museum Bandiana has one such example of this vehicle, but in a different configuration.

Two views of SII Wrecker AMF 108-038 ( in Gloss Olive, location unknown.

This vehicle now resides in the Army Museum Bandiana.

A number of interesting aspects of the vehicle can be seen in this photo including the radio installation and wing mounted ATU, jerry can storage and spare tire mounting.

The same vehicle as above, but later in life after a repaint and with a canopy fitted.

Spare tyre is now on the bonnet, and the canopy appears quite faded.

Click on pic

Rollers have been added at the rear to assist in recovering from more acute angles, as well as forward.

There is a small rear window in the canopy and the radios appear to have been removed from their racks.

Land-Rover Series 2a Wrecker

Various detail views of SIIA Wrecker AMF 176-312, looks to be Enfield again.

There are some differenced between the series 2 above and this 2a. A bigger work light, Side rollers fitted from the start.

The crane is different, and the spare tyre is back in the rear of the vehicle.

Interestingly this vehicle is only 2 registration numbers from the vehicle that the Army Museum Bandiana has.

Again the side lockers for jerry can storage has been added, but bits of the bonnet spare tyre mount seem to be still in place.
