"Lt.Di.Hugo R/N
Regimental No. 2213270
Methodist
O+."
...thats on her dog tags. She started life as a Hospital/Nurses training aide. These were widely used in the 1960's. I rescued her from certain death as she was destined for a one way trip, her legs were missing but the remainder was intact and in remarkably good condition. She has all the female parts (for those of you who are curious). We (nurses) trained to Catheterize people, give injections (H.I & I.M.I ), pass Nasogastric tubes etc etc. The hole in her neck is for a Tracheostomy (maintian temporary airway). I made her legs from chicken wire and wire coathangers with heavy duty cardboard to keep the shape. A truss was designed to enable her to stand, the original legs used to articulate (range of movement) like her arms do.

Sterilizer works. It was rescued from our local tip, covered in crud and crap. I paid the princely sum of $10.00 for it knowing full well that at my place of employment we have heaps of spares for 'em. Once home I started to fill it with H2O and connected it up. On the highest setting of the thermostat it was boiling it's little head off, no leaks! Once polished with Brasso it came up shining. Now it lives in the back of Dianne-May. I have a 5kw gen/set for the 109" Workshop truck.... it might power it up at a display one day if I can ever get my hands on a 11 x 11 tent.

Hard track wheels - Landy combat rims? These are in a private collection in Victoria and were trialled by the Army in the late 60's for crossing swampy ground... I would suspect they were not a brilliant success as these are the only one's Iv'e ever seen and I've never before read any reference to anything like it.

Series 2A Ambulance belongs to Vietnam Veterans Museum Victoria. It was not used as an Ambulance in Vietnam. It was used (so the guide told me) as a photography lab. I didn't get to look inside as it was locked.

Here's a pic from Cooma's Landy graveyard. Both chassis have a few front-end mods, one has coil springs, both have homemade radiator panels. SMHEA custom jobs? Spotted any other clues?
