One item in a military vehicle that helps identify it as such are the vehicles various data plates. One significant plate is the nomenaclature plate that shows the vehicles nomenaclature, census code, contract, date and identification, (usualy in the form of a chassis or vin number)

Whilst this list is far from complete or perfect, it will help give people an idea of what plates they do have, or may be missing. Sometimes like the plate example on the left , they have been painted over, and careful cleaning can reveal the plate below.

There are a number of different workshop vehicle variants as detailed elsewhere on REMLR, most either left the factory with a bare workshop tray for specialist conversion, or as a cab chassis to have a platform added later.

Station Wagons still in existance are a bit of a muddle, some were converted into other vehicles, some were converted from other vehicles, in one case, converted from a fire tender!

101 FORWARD CONTROL

Australia only used one of the four major versions of the 101, the general service variant, but a number of plates are affixed to these vehicles, some from British Aerospace, some from Land Rover.
