![]() Mike Cecil of the AWM has completed research into the background and development of the Australian Army "Bloodbox", the Land-Rover ¾ Ton Field Ambulance. His work clears up a lot of the fog surrounding the early years of Land-Rover in the Australian Military along the way: Bloodbox: The Australian Land Rover Series 2 and 2A, 4-Stretcher Ambulance by Mike Cecil It was initially thought that the two prototypes had been rebuilt into the one unit when it was redeveloped, and visually was distinctive because of the white rear body. However in 2012 it came to light that both prototypes were in civilian hands still. Although it is believed both have been unfortunately heavily modified, it appears that they were brought up to the same standard as the 31 pre production series 2 vehicles which differed slightly from the 151 production series 2a units. |
