The Registry Of Ex-Military Land-Rovers Au, NZ, etc

The Australian Army and Air Force use a number of variants of the Perentie 110 in 1 ton 4x4, and 2 ton 6x6 configurations. This page is intended as a guide to those variants, as well as a couple of variations. Not all models have information and photos yet, but the gaps will be filled soon. Some of these vehicles were built under the initial Perentie Project, whereas others were built under the later Bushranger Project.

Much of the information on this page is taken from Publication EDE 2/90, Project Perentie Profile, Vehicle Information Brochure. Engineering Developemnt Establishment, Australian Army.

Sallyman

These Defender 130's are not used by the Army, and are not "perentie" vehicles. However as they are used alongside the Perentie by the Salvation Army they have been included here. These are modified Defender 130 utes with specially built modules on the back.

TD5 Hardtop

Again, whilst not a true "Perentie" these vehicles are modified Defender vehicles again. In this case on special order by the Australian Army. They are 2 door hard tops with storage for equipment and a jerry can in 2 side lockers, and bench seats in the rear of the vehicle. These only have a short service life, but are far cheaper to procure. They were purchased as a stopgap to fill holes in the supply of 110 perentie vehicles. Parakeet Communications Vehicle

This one is a bit of a mystery. There appears to be no army record of this vehicle existing, however that should not come as a surprise as dur to it's role it would be reasonably heavily classified!

The Parkaeet module is a bolt on module that can be fitted to trucks as well as land rovers. Parakeet modules have even been seen on dial cab 6x6's. However untill mroe information is available we'll just have to leave you with a few photos!
