Deejay's Studebaker Army Photos.

This particular Studebaker (yes, it is the same vehicle in almost all of the photos) was one of the best kept vehicles in the Army. It was also one of the last still in service. It was a 1943 model, but did not enter Australian service untill the 1950's when it was uncrated for the first time.

The story goes that the Army Museum Bandiana (as it is called now) wanted the vehicle in their collection, but the vehicle was never at the unit when people turned up, and so went a hide and seek game that lasted months. Eventually the vehicle was put into the museum, where it still is to this day.

The photos of the dual front tryres in teh snow was something tried to see if it would help teh vehicle 'float' over the snow. and whilst it did push a wider path, it did not help the vehicle much and they were taken off again.
